Gone to the dark side… Got an iPhone…

It’s a fair cop. I’ve gone to the dark side.

For two years my trusty Blackberry Bold served me well but alas it was time to renew. After much deliberation and soul searching I decided that I should try an iPhone 4s even though I am a PC man.

I had my reasons. Yes an HTC XL looked attractive and a Galaxy looked even better but I ended up with an iPhone simply because so many of my customers use them.

And already I’m impressed. Its easy to use and only crashed it once do far.

Plus, there are lots of productivity apps such as the Daily Tracker.

As I get more familiar with the iPhone I’ll continue to add my findings.

Ever wonder what the alternative is?

When ever I try a new piece of software (and this happens a lot), I like to know the alternatives.  I normally do this by just searching on Google – however today I found http://alternativeto.net/.

If you’re always looking to improve the way you work, I’d recommend a look.

Evernote: too much stuff

I don’t know about you but I’ve got three computers, and all of my documents, notes and files are liberally scattered across them.  Then I’ve got stuff on the cloud it Gliffy, MindMeister, Google Docs, Fastmail.fm and some other online sites.  I’ve also trialled BizPad, Basecamp, TodoList, Toodle, Remember the Milk and other online tools and am still to find something that will gather all my info and files up in a nice place.

So today, some one recommended I should look at Evernote.  So, if it’s any good, I’ll add another blog entry to let you know my thoughts.

If you have any other suggestions, I’d love to know.

yansi.co.uk

Yet another networking social type website which this time targets people and identities. It searches the Internet for people and tries to cross reference created content and the authors. You can create your own profile on the site and take ownership of documents to help forge your online identity and protect your reputation – see Mark Edmunds at www.yasni.co.uk.

RehomingBatteryHens.com

My partner Liz and I rehomed eight battery hens last year and with our knowledge of what’s required have created a new site all about what people need to know about rescuing them.

So if you are considering Rehoming Battery Hens or keeping chickens, then it’s worth checking it out.

My Bucket List

As part of my coaching with Roger Lamb, ActionCOACH, I’ve been working on my Bucket List. For inspiration, I put in a search for “100 things to do” and came across http://www.BucketList.org. So I created a profile – http://bucketlist.org/list/MarkEdmunds/.

MindMeister – online mind mapping tool

If you are like me, you like mind maps.  They are great things to note down ideas, structure your thoughts, outline talks, design websites or think about anything.

As part of my quest to automate and systemise everything I can, I’ve been searching the net for tools to help.  One of the better tools I’ve found so far is MindMeister.  I’d recommend a look http://www.mindmeister.com/ and there is a free level so you can play to see if it works for you too.
